Description: Three non-Republican presidential candidates – John Breckinridge, Stephen A. Douglas, and John Bell – gather around a large kettle labeled “Union Broth.” On the ground late bound paper entitled “Tickets for Soup Good for the Constitution.” To the left is a large shaker labeled “Democratic Paper.” The implication is that the three are unable to come up with a recipe for defeating Abraham Lincoln.
